On our morning walk to the fiord, we disturbed several sheep. These eventually went back into the grass. Most of the sheep we have seen in the Westfjords have been in groups of three. They flock when they are spooked. On the way back, a small flock ran up the road in front of us. They continued over a bridge. Hope they find their way back,ok.
The sun raising over the mountains at about 6 am. The sun is very low in the sky. It begins to get light about 4 am and begins a lingering sumset around 9:30 pm. It is light until about 11 pm.
Next stop Ísafjörður, a veritable metropolis. On the way we went through a 3.4 mile one lane tunnel that features pullouts every few meters in case a car or truck was coming in the other direction. In fact a large truck that was too large to pull over was coming at us, but kindly stopped just before a turnout so we could get out of the way. We had thoroughly gotten used to one lane bridges, but a tunnel???
Ísafjörður
We stopped at the fox museum and to view the seals in Súðavík.
Two of many stunning vistas.
