Sunday - Zodiac tour of Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

First thing this morning we took a Zodiac boat tour at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.  Fun, informative, and stunning!  Definitely worth the price.

All set to go in our fashionable suits!

And into the boats

We only took about 200 pictures. It was so amazing!

The bad news is the ice is receeding about a quarter of a kilometer a year on distance and several meters in depth.  It is estimated that at this rate it will be gone in 50 years of so.

All of this ice at the mouth of the bay is new from yesterday - probably why our tour was canceled.  We also noticed the melting on our glacier walk yesterday.  Several of the ice screws had to be re-drilled and the ice stairs we climbed were turning into rivers.
