Thursday

Drove from Reykjavic to Borgarnes by way of Glymur.

We had a quick stop at the Siminn cell phone store for a chip for Mary's iPad and an explanation on how to load the minutes onto our phones that came with the chips we previously purchased.  Oh, you need to unwrap the cellophane, take out another card, scrape off the scratch-off-ink to reveal the 12 digit code and then call a special number on your phone and key in the code - all that after activating the chip!  That was intuitive.  Guess next time I need to learn a little Icelandic.  Nice to have working phones.  The interesting part is the phones could get to the internet prior to activating the minuets, just really ssssssslllllooooooowwwwwlllllyyyyyyyy.

Waterfall on the way to Glymur

On the hike up to Glymur, the second highest waterfall in Iceland which cascades 196 m. The pictures do not do it justice.

We met Mark and Linda, avid hikers from Wisconsin.  The lent us a hiking pole each to help get down some of the more treacherous section of the trail.

We had to cross a log bridge out and back.  Art is making sure that the wire is taut.

Hiked back from the river through a cave.

Deildartunguhver thermal spring - West Iceland is Europe's most powerful hot spring. It provides 180 l/sec of 100°C hot water - that would be boiling water.

Fossatún Country Hotel -our accommodations for night 2.

We ended the day with our second re-planning marathon in order to spend a second day in Westfjords.
